This itinerary will lead you through the discovery of Europe’s most southern shoreline with its marvellous beaches of golden, satin sand from the Sahara desert and its lush Mediterranean dune vegetation. You will cross Scicli picturesque countryside, just along the coast, in a delightful visit of the town historic centre – famous for hosting the TV police department of Montalbano – plunging in a maze of narrow streets and alleys almost untouched by time.
STAGE 1: Scicli round-trip trough bicigrill
From the centre of Scicli we set off to discover the surrounding rural landscapes.
We also offer you the possibility of an extra ring-route for those who love long runs, destination Maria Pirato Cave.
STAGE 2: Scicli and its historic centre, countryside, seaside
From Scicli head to the sea, to reach Sampieri, an old fishermen village. You could have a first stop at Cross Cloister and then at some of the farms along the stage.
The bike hike can continue in the countryside along the shoreline, towards other rural experiences, other old farms and farmhouses.
STAGE 3: from the countryside of Modica and Scicli to Ispices area
Starting point of these stage is Cava Nacalino, fascinating natural place.
The bike stroll will wind along a quiet rural cycle path skirted by towering carobs, heading to the sweet embrace of the Mediterranean Sea.
At the gate of Ispica, a more challenging uphill will bring you across History, among the prehistoric remnants of Forza Park, the cave dwellings of ancient Ispica, to the final arrival in the city centre among the mansions of the rural aristocracy and bourgeoisie.
